We Still Have Them Surrounded!
Terrorism
Malcolm T. Hedges
Some time ago, I mentioned in passing that we have Syria and Iran surrounded.
Another Minor Act of War
Terrorism
Joe Mariani
What would happen if one country committed a blatant act of war against another, and no one did anything about it… or worse, attempted to compromise with the attacker? Would that country’s leaders feel embarrassed over their breach of protocol and apologise? Or would they feel emboldened by the soft response to commit more attacks in hope of gaining further concessions? History has taught us that the latter is far more likely. But some refuse to learn the lesson. It’s happened before, of course, and it seems to be happening again.

CAIR Representing Flying Imams against Airline and Passengers
Terrorism
Sher Zieve
In a first of its kind lawsuit, CAIR (Council on America-Islamic Relations) attorneys are representing the so-called “Flying Imams” in suing both US Airways and passengers. The suit stems from an incident that occurred on a US Airways’ flight in November 2006, from Minneapolis to Arizona, on which six Islamic Imams were reported to have stood up on the plane and prayed loudly, took seats that were not assigned to them (reminiscent of the 9/11 hijackers’ locations) and requested seatbelt extensions (which can be used as weapons) when they were neither required nor justified. They are also reported to have made anti-American and pro-Saddam Hussein and Osama bin-Laden comments. The actions of the Imams were not only overtly menacing but, seemed designed to instill fear amongst their fellow passengers. Several passengers, including at least one who speaks and understands the Arabic language, reported the Imams’ behaviors to flight attendants. The Imams were, subsequently, removed from the flight.

Fight, Don’t Negotiate with, Palestinians
Terrorism
Elan Journo
Irvine, CA--Israeli and Palestinian leaders recently sat down to discuss a peace deal--but the U.S.-brokered talks were fruitless. Many voices, such as the “New York Times,” acknowledge that “the biggest single obstacle to peace” is the refusal of Hamas, a member of the Palestinian “unity government,” to recognize Israel and renounce violence. But, we are told, if Israel would only make more generous concessions to the Palestinians and bolster their “moderate” leaders, then negotiations can yield peace.
Looking Back, You’ve Been Had, Soldier.
Terrorism
James T. Moore
Don’t get me wrong. All of us in America are behind you guys 100%. In fact, I’ll tell you flat out, you’re doing a great job against nasty odds. However, and I hate to say this, you guys have been shafted. And by your own government at that. After 9/11, if you were a soldier in the regular armed forces, you thought, oh oh, this is it. It looks like we might see some action pretty soon.

You Never Know When Victory Will Come
Terrorism
Bruce Walker
As Clauswitz, the classical German military theorist stated, “War is the continuation of politics by other means.” All wars are, ultimately, political. Certainly our global war on terrorism is political. Military victories, however, starkly affect how the greater political conflict is proceeding. Modern history is filled with examples of freedom loving and peace loving people (N.B. Leftists, that would be us) have turned from military desperation to military victory and from that to inevitable political victory.
Blair Subtracts, Bush Adds, Go Figure
Terrorism
James T. Moore
This may go down in history as the goofiest dichotomy of our age: while Britain is pulling troops out of Iraq, the U.S. is pouring more troops in. This indicates--erroneously, of course--that we may be winning the war in northern Iraq, but losing it down south, in Basra. At least that’s what the most recent reports imply.
