Is the knighting of Salman Rushdie, 60, by the queen of England “a sign of the changing mood” toward British Muslims, as Observer columnist Nick Cohen wrote? Is it “a welcome example of ... British backbone,” as Islamism specialist Sadanand Dhume described it in the Wall Street Journal?

On May 9, President Bush signed the “National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive” that establishes a new national continuity coordinator whose job it is to make plans for “National Essential Functions” of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments as well as private sector organizations that would, in a national emergency, continue to function under directives from the president’s office.

More than 5.5 billion pounds of explosives are used each year in the United States by private sector companies and government entities. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has the federal authority to regulate explosives and to license privately owned explosives storage facilities.

Recently spoiled brat “environmentalists” were charged under federal terrorism statutes for having burned down an automobile dealership.  These criminals have been committing this sort of destruction for years.  Their equally bad family members solemnly tell the accommodating media that their arsonist relatives were not really “terrorists” but rather wonderful people trying to save us from global warming, upsetting the delicate balance of nature, and similar infantile and self-obsessed excuses for crime.

The Hamas victory over Fatah in Gaza on June 14 has great importance for Palestinians, for the Islamist movement, and for the United States. It has rather less significance for Israel.

Bush’s disastrous foreign policy--especially the Iraq fiasco--has led many to conclude that diplomatic “engagement” is our best hope for stopping Iran’s nuclear program. But while Bush’s policy is a failure, engagement is not the solution.

The world was told that if Israel booted out its own people who had set up residence on the Gaza Strip and then gave those same Gaza territories to the Palestinians that peace and harmony would reign supreme.  Those of us inhabiting this planet have been drilled for decades that separate side-by-side Palestinian and Israeli states would bring a ‘new level of understanding and tolerance’ to the region.  All Israel needed to do was give up some of their hard-fought-for lands to the Palestinians.  So, in August 2005 then Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon began the placation process of the Palestinian-state-demanders and started the forcible removal of Israeli colonists from twenty-one Israeli settlements.  Note:  After taking control of the Gaza, the new Palestinian settlers immediately began the destruction of Jewish homes, businesses, greenhouses and farms.  In other words, they destroyed and defiled their own new territories.  Hmmm.  The Palestinians are a most “interesting” people.

Slowly, ever so slowly, it is beginning to dawn on Americans that anything we attempt to do to entice the Middle East into the 21st century is likely to meet with defeat because its Muslim population, held in the grip of brutal men and a brutal theology, remains impervious to the possibility of peace, of freedom, of individual liberty.

Irvine, CA--According to several reports, the Bush administration is negotiating a multi-billion dollar sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia, including battle tanks, missile defense systems, advanced air-to-ground weapons, satellite-guided “smart” bombs, and state-of-the-art fighter jets such as the F-15 and F-16.

The Arab League and the Quartet - America, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations - have become totally paralysed as Hamas and Fatah lay into each other in Gaza with a ferocity that makes the never ending procession of pious resolutions passed at the United Nations condemning Israeli “brutality and breaches of international humanitarian law “ what they always have been - totally hypocritical and quite farcical.

Nearly five years have passed since President Bush stood in the Rose Garden and gave the Palestinians a choice.  They could have either a state or they could have terror.  But they could not have both.

On a recent speech at the Global Initiative Nuclear Terrorism Conference, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller wryly noted that “:..Terrorists do not want a seat at the diplomatic table”.

Irvine, CA-- Back in January, President Bush acknowledged that Iran had been providing key material support for attacks against American troops in Iraq. According to NATO officials, Iran has now been caught shipping heavy arms, C4 explosives and advanced roadside bombs to the Taliban for use against American and NATO forces.

Barring a “catastrophic development,” Middle East Newsline reports, George Bush has decided not to attack Iran. An administration source explains that Washington deems Iran’s cooperation “needed for a withdrawal [of U.S. forces] from Iraq.”
