CHICAGO - A new “Little Ice Age” could begin in just four years, predicted Habibullo Abdussamatov, the head of space research at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia. 

Considering the thousands of absurd claims made about the discredited fraud of “global warming”, a recent National Geographic News story, “North Magnetic Pole Moving East Due to Core Flux”, struck me as potentially far more significant.

Climate change skeptics on Capitol Hill are quietly watching a growing accumulation of global cooling science and other findings that could signal that the science behind global warming may still be too shaky to warrant cap-and-trade legislation.

It boggles the mind. Years after global temperature rises peaked around 1998 - and the world has been cooling ever since - we’re still hearing shrill warnings that we are doomed to be deep fried by Mother Nature. 

Several Canadian environmental scientists agree the new Jason satellite indicates at least a 23-year cycle of global cooling ahead.

There’s a wonderful irony in the fact that, back in the 1970s, the Greens were issuing warnings and even writing books about the coming Ice Age. They would abandon this issue, based in well-known and accepted solar science, in favor of a vast international hoax alleging man-made global warming.

If you go at Solar and Heliospheric Observatory website you will see a picture of the Sun without any sunspots. Sunspots are regions on the Sun cooler than the rest, and because of the temperature difference they show as dark spots.

Back in 1991, before Al Gore first shouted that the Earth was in the balance, the Danish Meteorological Institute released a study using data that went back centuries that showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles.

When Scott and I wrote “The Global Warming Hoax” in 1992, a group of Danish scientists had just published a paper that compared solar energy output (as measured by sunspot activity) to global temperatures, and found a striking correlation.

Evidence is rapidly mounting that Earth is about to (or has actually begun to) enter a period of sharply colder climate whose duration and intensity cannot be predicted. Meanwhile, politicians prepare costly plans for government regulation of carbon dioxide emissions that will have no discernible impact on climate but will do incalcuable damage to both our standard and cost of living.

This year of 2008 is starting out cold - but according to the “consensus” climate watchers it’s still likely to be one of the “top 10 warmest” in the thermometer record before it’s over. After all, the Greenhouse gasses continue to accumulate in the atmosphere.

You’ve no doubt seen the stories about strange snowfalls in Saudi Arabia. A brutal winter in China. The heaviest snow cover in North America, Siberia and elsewhere since 1966. 

Scientist who study climate change have now come up with a new prognosis for the future of our planet:  2007 saw the greatest single drop in temperature in recorded history.  The ice age which had been receding for the last few centuries seems to be returning.  Global Cooling is a serious problem.  The last time our planet suffered from global cooling, there was also a troubling increase in crop failures, disease and the decline of habitable areas (Greenland and Iceland, for example, had much more vegetation and warmth.)
