I never thought that my own government would be at war with its own people. Bart Stupak has found a higher value than preserving human life:  lockstep partisan loyalty.  No serious adult can believe for an instance that the microscopic fig leaf of a meaningless executive order really persuaded this “Pro-Life” Democrat.  Discussions about some sort of executive order had been floating around Washington for weeks.  The easiest course, if an executive order was really the answer, would have been for Stupak to craft the best language he could long before the vote, share that language with Pro-Life groups and solicit their input, and then announce it before the Sunday vote. 

Small-government conservatives have always been suspicious of government. Whether city, county, state or federal all government is looked on as a troublesome but necessary evil that must be tightly controlled and oft times opposed. This anti-government attitude, of course, is a complete mystery to socialist Democrats. They just don’t understand why conservatives mistrust government and why they eye it suspiciously. So, looking for a way to explain in real terms why conservatives loathe government is sometimes not an easy task as the ideas are often very esoteric. Thank God the corrupt governments in Barack Obama’s Illinois are always there to supply a ready example of why government is often the enemy of a free people.

Whether they are called Democrats, socialists, Marxists or progressives, the current leadership in Washington has but one goal: control. The current leadership has demonstrated its belief that government must control virtually every facet of the economy, of politics and the life of every citizen.

Liberal-progressive-socialists, from Henri de Saint-Simon and Auguste Comte in the 1800s and Karl Marx in the mid-1800s, to present-day liberal-progressive members of the Democrat/Socialist Party, have believed as an article of secular religious faith that their superior intellects alone are capable of intuiting the inevitable course of history.  Those who disagree with their reading are written off as cranks or imbeciles, unworthy of serious consideration. 

I like my hometown, but I must admit that New York has problems: high taxes, noise, traffic. Forbes magazine just ranked my city the 16th most miserable in America. Ouch! Of course, that makes me wonder: What’s America’s most miserable city? 

If you read the fairy tale weaved by the major media and our history books, we would believe that liberal policies are beneficial to everyone, whether if those policies are popular are not. The upper classes can complain all they want, but they sleep better at night knowing that the government is generous with their wealth, even if those wealthy are actually “quite greedy.” The middle class who aspire to be rich might have to face tougher regulations and taxes that might prevent them from meeting their dream, but at least they know their “fundamental needs” are being met. This would never happen, we are told, without the benevolent hand of the government. Than there are those who are poor and they are obviously the biggest beneficiaries of a big and generous government. These people would surely be found lying dead in the street without the generosity of a redistributing government.
