The United States preoccupation with the grave situation in the Middle East has metamorphosed into a grand opportunity for Beijing.  Once thought of as the “sick man of Asia” with land confiscated by the British, Dutch, Germans and Japanese, the newly reborn Asian Giant is extending its diplomatic networks and pursuing its military objectives without any real opposition. China maintains its primary focus is isolated to Taiwan, but it has quietly been expanding its aircraft, ship and missile capabilities signaling a direct challenge to United States interests. Outside a couple of trifle warnings about the Chinese military buildup, the United States has done little to safeguard the nation against the Asian Giant. The Chinese have turned hawkish towards the United States, devoting significant resources to both defensive and offensive measures against the world’s only super power.  The Chinese have used the United States’ War on Terror to expand their military, intelligence capabilities, and influence. According to a report by the Rand Corporation the Chinese have assembled advanced strategies confrontation with the United States which includes “massive missile attack, computer network sabotage, and radical technological advances to build, a networked military loosely paralleling American initiatives to fuse intelligence and communications.”

The driving force behind the eco-radicals’ fierce efforts to strangle the free market with environmental regulations is their virulent hatred for a free, prosperous economy. Yet behind this hatred is an even deeper one. To understand why they try to wreck our economy, you have to grasp the shocking fact that many eco-radicals hate the human race and Western civilization. They hate the fact that you, your family, your friends, and millions of other human beings live and prosper on this planet.

In quite possibly the most blatant display of hypocrisy ever displayed by a former public official, former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey is now teaching ethics to young men and women at a New Jersey public college. Last November, Kean University located in Union hired the disgraced McGreevey to teach a course in ethics, law and leadership.

The appearance on the Internet this week of a video showing the stoning to death of a teenage Kirdish girl in Iraq underscores this writer’s long-held contention that “they are not like us.”

Leave it to a liberal to claim that Americans are “cheapskates” because our government does not spend enough money on foreign aid. In the L.A.Times for April 13th, that is just what we are treated to with Rosa Brooks’ screed titled, “To the rest of the world, we’re cheapskates"(1) and subtitled, “The U.S. international affairs budget—which helps fight AIDS, poverty and more—is just 1% of total spending.” But, by attacking our country over its record on charity and foreign aid spending, Brooks proves that she neither understands the nature of American generosity, nor the American character.

Ehud Olmert’s time as Israel’s Prime Minister could be measured in days, if not hours.  He is under fire after the release of Winograd Report which examined Israel’s shortcomings during the first five days of last summer’s war with Hezbollah in Lebanon.  The report harshly criticized Olmert’s efforts as a “severe failure”.  For his part, Olmert has said he will not resign.  But in light of Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni calling on Olmert to resign it seems that the writing is on the wall.  If Olmert doesn’t leave of his own accord he will likely be forced out.  And don’t be surprised if Livni is chosen to succeed him as the new leader of Kadima and Israel’s second female Prime Minister.
