Our local radio station is encouraging parents to protest the use of pesticides in our schools. The station is broadcasting “public service announcements” saying pesticides used in the schools are “linked” to cancer, asthma and lower IQ scores among the kids. Probably you are hearing the same announcements on your radio stations. They’re produced by Earthworks, a consortium of eco-groups, and sponsored by The Ad Council.

Promoters call it the Freedom of Choice Act, which is actually true. If passed, it would retroactively and forever free the abortion industry to infinity and beyond from every “federal, state and local statute, ordinance, regulation, administrative order, decision, policy [and] practice,” encumbering abortion in any way whatsoever.

Congress is the law-making branch under our Constitution, the place where issues of great national importance should receive robust debate before the decision is made about what course of action the nation will take. At times in our history, however, there have been attempts by some of our elected representatives in Congress to stifle debate for the sake of their own agenda, thereby avoiding their own responsibility to debate the issues.
