Technical StupidityAs each day goes by, I interact with people that need a web site or are working on such an effort. Over and over, the person has no concept of what is needed to accomplish what they wish to do and frequently refuse to accept my humble suggestions.
I do this all day and learn something most every day. Lucky me, I have found folks that will help me understand stuff that is beyond my knowledge.
A kind wizard on the EE Core forum helped me add an important feature to HWR that I couldn’t manage on my own.
Somehow I have a problem understanding why people are too proud to ask for or accept help with something they don’t really understand.
I would suggest that part of the issue is the Progressive schools and the PC agenda. People are discouraged from thinking and inviting help.
Some major Internet efforts that lean to the right are suffering from technical stupidity and so their servers and site effectiveness suffer considerable problems and/or total failure.
HWR: runs on a humble server that just runs and runs and runs! Thanks to the kind assistance of the folks at http://LightHost.Com/ that provide the lease, the box has updated memory and software which makes it run much better.
The MoveOff Network Sites that use pMachine software were much enhanced by the help of the webmaster at Accuracy In Media, but for some reason the same enhancement has not been fully integrated into the AIM site?
Perhaps the issue is involved by the basic problem that management refuses to admit they don’t understand technology and can’t bring themselves to find a person that can resolve the problems.
When HWR was started it took me two full days to just manage the figure out how to configure the thing, I still learn each day how to tune issues.
People that are too proud to ask for help or consider it are just stupid!
