‘Can Taiwan become another Hong Kong?’The long drawn-out soap opera of the American primaries and dramatic events in various hot spots in the Large Middle East have caused the world’s mass media to completely overlook the parliamentary elections in Taiwan. Their results are, however, of major importance not only to the region but also internationally.
...The Kuomintang is a party of Chinese nationalists for whom the “One China” principle is just as sacrosanct as it is for the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party.
